Every sewing room needs a good sewing box with compartments. Personally, I’ve found Husky storage boxes to be the best for storing sewing supplies.

Although the colors aren’t that great, Husky storage boxes work wonders!

The colors of Husky storage compartments are very masculine. While not the most fashion forward or exciting for ladies, Husky storage containers are super durable and come in a variety of sizes ideal for sewing. Since the colors aren’t exciting, I stick to purchasing clear containers. Clear containers will match with any sewing space and allow one to see what is inside.

Shape allows these storage containers to lock together for easy storage.

Sizes are perfect – even the smaller ones.

I use the smaller husky storage containers to hold all of my sewing machine presser feet. I also use the small husky containers for storing sewing needles and wonder clips. The small storage containers are inexpensive and great because they have movable compartments inside. The compartments aren’t flimsy, so you never have to worry about your items getting mixed up by accident either. These storage containers aren’t readily available online. But, the small Dewalt containers are similar and also pretty good.

I used to store thread in this home depot brand box with movable compartments. Now, it just holds sewing machine needles.

Medium storage containers with compartments are awesome

I used to store small spools of thread inside a medium sized Home Depot  storage container for years until I ran out of room and decided to hang thread on the wall. Wall hanging thread looks nice, but a storage container is always the best option because it keeps thread colors from fading out or getting dusty. The best part about this storage container is the dividers are movable so you can make compartments small or large as you’d like them to be. This is makes better use of space when there are 12 spools of blue thread and only 1 yellow.

A tool organizer makes a great sewing box with compartments

The standard tool box is the best sewing box with compartments because it is ideal for storing frequently used notions. For instance, a standard tool box is great for storing  things like:

The costs is relatively cheap and you get more space in comparison to dedicated sewing boxes from craft stores. Well, I hope the Husky sewing box/tool box idea sparked positive thought. Happy Sewing 🙂
