Are Your Sewing Machine Stitches Too Loose?

Are your sewing machine stitches too loose? If you are using a machine with a standard class 15 bobbin case, you’ve come to the right place to find information on how to fix this problem.
Are your sewing machine stitches too loose??? Here’s how to tell.
Sew two pieces of fabric together with a back stitch at the beginning and end of the stitch. When stitches are too loose, the bottom and top thread will look great. However, you’ll easily be able to pull apart the two pieces of fabric because the seams will just come right apart.
Don’t throw out your sewing machine because this problem can be fixed.
You will need to remove the bobbin case and perform a yo-yo test. To perform the yo-yo test, grab the thread and hold it with the bobbin case hanging down like a yo-yo. Does your thread drop straight to the ground? If so, the bobbin thread is too loose! Do you bounce the yo-yo and find your bobbin case dropping straight to the ground with one small giggle. Your thread is too loose!
In a perfect world, your thread should travel down a few inches and stop.
The thread should only move downward a little when you shake the “yo-yo.” To fix this problem, find the screw on the side of your bobbin case. Turn the screw a half turn to the right to tighten it. Repeat the yo-yo test until your bobbin case passes with flying colors. Does your bobbin case never pass the test? In this case, it is time to buy a brand new bobbin case! Note: You should always keep an extra bobbin case on hand.

Thread your sewing machine and place the bobbin case inside. Please, use the manual to make sure your machine is threaded properly. Then, lower the presser foot. Once your presser foot is lowered, turn the top tension to 3. Do a test stitch.
Results:
Thread lays flat on the top of your fabric: bottom thread is still too loose.
Thread lays flat on bottom of your fabric: the top thread is still too loose.
Adjust
Make adjustments to the upper thread tension until the upper and lower thread tension are both balanced.
