Bernette B79 Harry Potter Sewing and Embroidery Machine Review (First Impressions + Features)

Bernette B79 Harry Potter sewing and embroidery machine released in March of 2026. However, the B79 itself is not a new model.
Features of the Bernette B79
Bernette B79 released in 2020. It has 500 stitches (including 17 buttonholes) and 208 embroidery designs. Since it B79 has so many different stitches, it is an intermediate to advanced level sewing and embroidery machine. In addition to including all the different stitches, B79 has a variety of advanced features including:
- Free arm (for hands free raising and lowering of the presser foot)
- On board embroidery design manipulation capabilities
- Dual feed ( a built in walking foot)
Other special editions
In 2023, the Yaya Han edition of the B79 released. This model was different from the original because it included:
- A purple and white exterior design
- 68 additional embroider designs, which were designed by Yaya Han
- 8 additional presser feet
- Creator 9 embroidery software
Complaints about Prior Models?
There were a few complaints across forums like (pattern review, reddit, justanswer, sewingmachinegeeks). Just for transparency, I didn’t mention a few of the complaints because they are common to all embroidery machines. For instance, I didn’t mention any complaints about bird nesting or thread tension because those are often due to not using the correct thread or needles. Main complaints were:
- The embroidery module has plastic parts that break easy. *Note: replacement embroidery modules may not be as accessible as ones from more popular home embroidery brands – like brother for example.
- Machine stops after completing several buttonholes or complex embroidery sequences.
Harry Potter Version Features
Bernette B79 Harry Potter sewing and embroidery machine is different from the original model because it has a black exterior and boots up with the lumos spell. In addition to booting with the lumos spell and featuring a black exterior, Bernette B79 Harry Potter sewing and embroidery machine includes 5 sewing stitches, 42 embroidery designs, +10 Bernette exclusive Harry Potter designs.

Embroidery designs are of Hogwarts, owls, lightning bolt eye glasses, and more. Since these designs are very specific to Harry Potter, they wouldn’t be used to embellish items for anyone who doesn’t enjoy the series. Aside from including specialized designs, many Harry Potter motifs raise controversy because of references to the occult. For those who like Harry Potter and don’t mind a little controversy, this is the ideal machine. Otherwise, it’s fine to get the original version or a Yaya Han edition.
