Necchi is an Italian company. But over the years, a number of different companies have purchased rights to use the business name. Most recently, ABM international gained rights to use the Necchi name. They have released a number of new Necchi sewing machines, including NE210.
Necchi 210 is a sewing and embroidery combo machine
This combo machine has a maximum stitch width of 7mm and a max stitch length of 5mm. The stitch width is particularly important to a sewing machine with lot’s of stitch patterns. It is important because wider stitches produce defined stitch patterns rather than a scrunched, distorted mess. 7mm is good for NE210.
Necchi NE210 has:
- 392 built-in stitch patterns
- 100+ built-in embroidery designs
- 3 alphabets
Nuances
There are a few features about the NE210 different from other brands. On other machines, the start/stop button is clear and backlit to indicate weather or not the sewing machine is ready to sew. However, NE210 is set up a little different. Instead of having a start/stop button with an integrated indicator light, there is a separate indicator light at the base of the machine.
Likewise, many new model machines have a quick release button for the needle plate located right beside the needle plate itself. But, NE210 has the button for it’s quick release located in front of the machine. Neither one of these features pose any sort of problem. However, it is a difference to recognize.
Things You’ll Either Like or Dislike
This model has a 3.5inch touch screen.
There are a few buttons allowing you to navigate without a stylus. While the screen is a modern means of gaining access to many stitches. But, you’ll need to scroll thru multiple pages to access all the stitches. You’ll either take issue with scrolling thru multiple pages or enjoy the process.
Education on the machine
In addition to navigating thru pages, you’ll find many video tutorials on the NE210 without audio. The few videos with audio, as of the time or writing this blog article, are in Italian with dubbed English. On the bright side, you can turn on captioning or even use the sewing machine manual.
Service centers
As of the time of writing this blog article, there are 111 service locations across the United States. The number of service center locations sounds promising. But once you realize that every state doesn’t have it’s own service center, it become apparent many will need to mail in their machines for servicing. For those located near a service center, the limited amount of service centers won’t be a problem. But, this fact will be a total deal breaker for service center deserts dwellers who don’t want to mail in their machines.
Things To Enjoy
Necchi offers a free embroidery software called Artist toolkit. The software is very capable and offers great value to those who would like to create their own embroidery designs. Likewise, you get a generous embroidery window of 4.7×7.1 inches. This is just slightly smaller than the 5×7 inches found on most home sewing and embroidery machines. Prices are always subject to change. However, the current price point of this machine is very competitive considering the free software and large embroidery work area provided by this unit.
Overlooked But Nice
The most overlooked features on a sewing and embroidery machine are the ability to:
- Turn off warnings for bobbin almost empty
- Adjust sewing speed on embroidery side of things (great to slow speed for tackling tough materials)
- Save stitch patterns and selections so you don’t have to remember what you did
This machine offers all 3 options, which is wonderful considering the current price point.
