Berina 790 Ultra release in summer of 2026. But, what makes it different from the 790 Pro release of 2023.

Biggest features on the Pro

There were a lot of great features on the 2023 Pro. But, a few features stood out from the rest. First, the feed dogs moved left, right, up and down for multi-directional stitching. This feautre gave the sewing machine a very futuristic vibe. Second, there was a pin point laser on the sewing machine. This laser followed the needle for pinpoint accuracy in sewing. Pin point laser accuracy allowed users to get every stitch just right. Third, the Pro model offered 4 point morphing. Your probably wondering what the heck morphing means, so let me explain.

Extra Morphing

In a general photo editing program, a square photograph has 4 points on it. These four points can be moved to distort the photograph as you wish. Likewise, Bernina allowed users to adjust designs with 4 points on its 790 Pro.

As a further advancement to this technology, Bernina has provided 2 and 3 point morphing on its 790 Ultra. This feature allows users to adjust objects to fit a triangle with 3 sides and etc.

Cropping

On a computer, you can cut of the part of an image you don’t want. Cutting off an image is called cropping. Likewise, Bernina 790 Ultra allows users to crop stitches. This feature is useful for those who would like to fit a large design into a smaller block of fabric.

Built in BSR

BSR stands for Bernina Stitch Regulator. For those of you who are unfamiliar, a stitch regulator is a tool ensuring all free motion stitches are even. On the Pro, this tool was a separate pressure foot that needed to be attached to your machine. However, Bernina 790 Ultra has this feature built into the machine. Built in BSR is beneficial because you no longer have to attach a foot to your machine. It is also great because it is slightly less bulky.

Stitch Plate Recognition

In simple terms, the computer knows what needle plate you have placed on the machine. It won’t let you sew with the incorrect plate. This way, you won’t screw up your expensive sewing machine by trying to stitch with the incorrect needle plate.

Jumbo Stitches

A jumbo stitch is merely a supersized stitch pattern. On the Bernina 790 Ultra, you can resize things by up to 500%. I don’t have a whole lot to say about this feature.

But…

…What I will outline here is the main difference between the 2023 model 790 Pro and the 2026 Ultra. Ultra just reduces your need for embroidery software a little more because it offers cropping, jumbo stitches, along with 2 & 3 point morphing. In addition, the newer model offers a few more conveniences with built in BSR and a stitch plate recognition.
