Sewing Only vs Embroidery Only

CX1 is a sewing only machine, while the CX1E is a single needle embroidery unit.

CX1 Differentiating Factors

Brother Celeste sewing only unit has a few features that make it stand out from other machines in the same price point. For starters, it has 11 inches of throat space right of the needle. This provides ample space for sewing thicker projects. The machine also come packed with 3 sashiko stitches, a couching foot, and dual feed for working with thicker materials. Many quilters will also be super excited about the built in laser, which allows you to see where your sewing before you make the stitch.

Common Features

There are 760 built in stitches on the machine (including 4 fonts), which is pretty common for a computerized sewing machine. There are more stitches than one could ever possibly use. Likewise, you’ve got 16 built in buttonholes for your garment sewing projects. However, this machine is a bit of overkill for someone who just sews garments because of all the additional features. A few of the additional features are listed below

  • WiFi
  • 10.1 inch screen
  • 2 needle plates for varying projects
  • knee lifter

CX1E Standout

The embroidery only CX1E has a 9.5 x 14 inch maximum embroidery window. This is pretty large and will allow the average embroidered to do a wide variety of projects. In addition to including a 9.5×14 inch hoop, you’ll also get a 5×7. The 5×7 hoop size is one of the most commonly used sizes in the embroidery world. So, it is a plus that the machine already comes with the foot.

CX!e is compatible with pes, phc, phx, dst, and pen files. It includes 2 point positioning with an LED pointer for accurately placing your needle every single time. But, it’s #1 feature is the matrix copy function. This function allows you to place multiple embroidery designs inside of one hoop. This saves time, especially for those who are into making embroidered patches.
