It isn’t always easy to find places to buy dressmaking supplies online.
Fabric is of course the most important thing out of all the dressmaking supplies online. Here’s a few great places to buy fabric.
- Zelouf fabrics is a place I started using after Fabric.com went away. They have a pretty good selection of fabrics and decent prices. So, definitely check them out.
2)Girlcharliee.com is an awesome place to buy knits. They often have sales and do 20% off coupons. You must, however, pay close attention to fabric content. Don’t just buy fabric from Girlcharlie because the print is pretty and on sale! Make sure your fabric is heavy enough to work on your project before you go to the shopping cart. At one time, I used to buy all of my knit fabric from girlcharliee.com. Now, I’ve branched out a bit.
3) Lafinch.com has good fabric! They used to only carry knit fabrics. Now, however, they have expanded to carry a wide variety of woven goodies. It is best to purchase from this website if you live on the west coast because shipping can get pricey! However, if you are on the east coast and don’t mind spending on shipping, go for it!
4) Appleanniefabrics.com has beautiful high-quality fabrics. This is the place you visit when you’re making an outfit for going somewhere. You’ll spend a little bit more money, but the pricing is on par with what you would pay for high-quality fabric. At the same time, there are some very affordable fabrics in the clearance section!
5) Fabric Mart is one other great place to find fabric for your next sewing project. Things are well organized on the website and they often run sales.
We’ve looked at 5 great places get fabric. Now, lets explore notions.
When looking for dressmaking supplies online, buying notions is a real frustration. Here are a few great places to buy the most commonly needed items.
6)Wawak.com is where 80% of my dressmaking thread comes from. They have great deals and pricing is reasonable. It is much cheaper to buy thread in bulk from a place like this than it is to buy thread at a big box store where you get much less thread for the same price. In addition to buying thread, I buy all my sewing machine needles from this store. Once in a while, they run a sale on machine needles. This is when to stock up!
7)Goldstartool.com is an excellent place to buy interfacing, elastic, rivets, and more. Plus, (as of 2021) they have 99 cent shipping across the USA. Just about any notion you might need, they have it! However, the interfacing, elastic, and rivets are the items I find most convenient to purchase because they seem to have the most reasonable pricing.
8)Joann.com is the website to use for purchasing notions like scissors, rulers, cutting mats, and chalk. Typically, I get great deals by taking advantage of the weekly coupons. They also have fabric. However, I don’t find this store to be the best for apparel fabric. Instead, I prefer to use Joann for quilting cottons because they have more variety in quilting.
9)Madeirausa.com is the website to visit if you are looking for supplies to embroider your dresses or garments. They have stabilizer and a wonderful selection of embroidery threads.
10)Homesewingdepot.com is the place to buy thinks like bias tape makers and jumbo clips. I haven’t had much experience with buying their items. However, it looks like they have a great selection of items for reasonable pricing.
