5 Singer Hand Crank Conversion Kit

Singer hand crank conversion kit is the ideal item to purchase for…

…emergencies like power outages. Over the past few months, locations across the USA have seen power outages. These power outages have been caused by heat waves and other natural disasters. Since nobody can tell what will happen in the future, it is best to be prepared for the worse. A long term power outage, especially during a disaster, would leave people in need of clothing repairs. It would also leave sewing enthusiasts, like myself, needing a method for continuing with their craft.

Singer Hand Crank conversion kit is a wonderful way to still be able to sew without taking up a ton of space. Unlike a treadle base, the conversion kit is compact and tucks away in a sewing box without a problem.

The kit makes sewing portable.

Since hand crank sewing machines are portable, this conversion kit makes it easy to travel with your sewing machine. You don’t have to worry about finding a power outlet and can still work on quilting projects, even on weekend camping trips or off-grid homesteading adventures.

Singer Hand Crank Conversion Kit

It’s Easy to Install.

I love the Singer Hand crank conversion kit most because it installs with just a simple screw driver and 5 minutes. To install, simply unscrew the stop wheel, add a piece of tape to hold the washer in place, and replace the stop wheel with the singer hand crank attachment.

The Kit Works on ANY Vintage Class 15 with a Screw in the Center of its Hand Wheel Stop Knob.

Sing hand crank conversion kit will work on my Emdeko JA21. However, it won’t work on a class 15 sewing machine like the Morse 4100. Morse 4100 has no screw in the center of its hand wheel stop motion knob. Instead, there is a clip holding the hand wheel stop motion knob in place. Overall, the conversion kit is compatible with most Singer 66, 15, and 99 models.

The most impressive part about the hand crank is its great build quality

I was very impressed by the build quality of the hand crank. It is super smooth and has a good weight to it. In other words, the hand crank doesn’t feel cheap or aftermarket at all.

Even better is the consideration of sewing machine travel cases…

The hand crank even folds down into a compact position. This makes it easy to fit your sewing machine into most singer travel cases.

Speaking of Travel…

A few of you have ask me about hand crank conversion kits for Singer Featherweight sewing machines. Here is a link to a Singer Featherweight compatible hand crank conversion kit.

The Ugly Part about Singer Hand Crank Conversion Kit is…

It’s a hand crank! Using a hand crank sewing machine is like doing a balancing act. You must turn the sewing machine with one hand and steady the fabric with your other hand. It takes more time!

Can this kit be used on singer 99k?

Holy Smokes! I’m doing this to my Emdeko. I was getting ready to purchase the motor and foot pedal you linked to and then I saw this. I love my handcrank machine, so I am over the moon excited about this. 🙂

Is this compatible with a Singer 257?

    • Thimble says:

I don’t own a Singer 257. However, I can tell you that this hand crank does work on all of my machines with a screw in the center of the stop motion wheel. If your sewing machine doesn’t have a screw in the center of the stop motion wheel, it won’t work.

    Hello,

I am very intersted about converting my electrical sew machine into a manual one.
Unfortunately, I have a Kenmore machine. The stop wheel of my machine looks very similar. Do you think you can provide the measurements of the inside part of your stop wheel to see if it fits with my machine ?
    Thank you very much.

    • Thimble says:

It is very time consuming to remove the stop motion wheel and get it put back together exactly right. So instead, I am providing the exact measurements for the hand crank attachment. The stop motion wheel on the hand crank attachment is the exact same size as my stop motion wheel. It’s outside diameter is 1.73 inches. However, the inside part that screws into the machine is .53inches. I hope this helps. Thanks for visiting the blog.

Is this compatible with Singer 222k featherweight, the screw is towards the outer edge but not in centre.

  6. Mike larson says:

    will this fit a 201-2?

    • Thimble says:

Yes, it should fit your machine. I tried this hand crank on my Singer 15-91 with potted motor and it worked beautifully. Thanks for reading.
